A weekend with my fav little girls

Published by

My nieces Callie and Bella visited NYC with their little bro Pierson, their dad–my brother Peter and his amazing wife Jenny. The girlie’s joined me at MH to cook some kid-adult friendly recipes. It’s the thing I love about our show–being with my family, cooking and eating together. Calder filmed a show in the morning with me–making short ribs too. And, at days end–he took the little ones home and babysat while I took Pete and Jen to Bar Basque http://www.opentable.com/bar-basque for the most delicious meal. The food was made from impeccable ingredients and it was amazing. But the auto-mat-style wine bar was crazy. You purchase a card, and insert it in the slot above your wine of choice, choose the size of the pour, grab a glass and it dispenses on its own. So cool–definitely worth checking out if you’re in NYC.

The next morning we attended the New York Food and Wine festival event hosted by Martha: Martha’s Milk and Cookies. Check the full story out here http://worldredeye.com/2010/10/milk-cookies-with-martha/. It was so good with several bakers bringing their favorite cookies. Callie was beside herself because she met the judges from her favorite show, Cupcake wars–including my friend and master baker Florian Bellinger from http://www.madmacnyc.com/. You’d think she was meeting the president. Calder, Luca, Hubs and I were joined by the whole Scala family for dinner at our favorite Irish pub, The Parlour http://www.theparlour.com/–the right choice for a large group with multiple ages–satisfying food for everyone, the kids can make noise and move around, watch soccer, play pool, listen to music and, yes–maybe I had a pint or two myself. Early Sunday morning off to the soccer field with Luca, BECs in hand. Don’t forget to enter our challenge f you have a bacon, egg and cheese you think rocks harder than ours. There’s a prize pack for the winner!

Stop w/ all the OMGs — if there is a God he certainly doesn’t care how much you are thrilled w/ what you pull out of the oven.

    To Frank above:

If you’re not interested in what comes out of an oven, you are on the wrong blog. Go find sour-puss.com.

There absolutely is a God, and since all good things come from Him, yes He does care when you are thrilled!

That show was on October 29, 2010. I hope this link will get you to it:

If not – type in Chicken Tenders in the search blog to find that show.

I think the other thing you can type in to find it is Paste Wheels and Cheese.

Frank – Some of us use OMG to say “Oh My Goodness” so please don’t assume. Hopefully you know what “ASSUME” is commonly referred to – Making an “A** out of U and ME!
