    I enjoy watching the show very much. I find that the food and recipes featured are almost always what I like to cook and eat myself. However, there’s one aspect of the show that both annoys and fascinates me: It’s the seamless editing. As an example, Lucinda will put something, say mushrooms, in a pan to cook, and suddenly, within seconds and with no obvious break in her commentary or the visual continuity, the mushrooms will be fully cooked and browned, whereas in “real time” it might take 10 or 15 minutes. It’s like magic (how do they do that?) and it’s a hallmark of this particular cooking show. In others there’s always a fade out/in or some other transition indicating that time has passed to give the viewer a more accurate feel of the what’s involved. As such I think the show tends to be misleading — someone may get the impression that a recipe takes only a few minutes whereas it will actually take much, much longer to prepare. I realize it’s impossible to cook everything in real time on a 22-minute show, but it would be helpful if there were more visual cues or comments (e.g., “after 10 minutes the mushrooms will look like this”) to better guide the novice cook.

    I agree with you William. The recipes on line are more clear. Watch some of the Food Channel shows to see if there’s a difference for a novice cook like yourself. Good luck.

    On a recent show you did a quickie banana recipe with ripe bananas. I can’t find it. Where should I look? Will you do it again?

    Makes me hungry just sharing this – on twitter. Gorilla sized Monkey support, for the Food Network, screetch’n out details to other jungle dwellers, about some yummy and rather delish snacking treats. Tasty treats to eat, whilst still watching your waistline. Now, that truly does sound like a jungle rock’n, smart move to get more yum and less fat into your life choices!
