Recipes From Today’s Show: Cocktail Party

Today on MHTV:  Today I’ve got my cousin Paul in the kitchen with me to help me get ready to put on a stylish and fun cocktail party. Sangria is a great serve-yourself party drink that’s great if you don’t want to get stuck behind a bar. Ours is made with Rose wine, brandy, fresh fruit and a bit of grapefruit juice for a colorful, delicious drink that can be made the morning-of. Braised Chorizo is cooked in some Rioja, a Spanish red wine, which makes for a juicy and flavorful bite. I’m also making a party favorite, Spinach-Artichoke Dip. Its gooey, cheesy and super decadent while roasted grape tomatoes are an easy accompaniment to goat cheese for a simple and elegant cracker-topper.

    why is your recipe different then what ms scala did on t.v. ? On t.v. shew used canned artichoke hearts,and the zest of one lemon and the juice of one lemon. Which recipe should I follow?

    I was wondering the same thing myself. Also, didn’t she put all of the mozzarella and parmesan cheeses on top. And I don’t remember her using ricotta cheese. Did I miss something?
    Never heard of a show where the demonstration differed from the recipe.

    I agree with the comments made by Ann and Marsha. What gives? Also, when you click on the link for the recipe for the show, it actually brings up a recipe used from Whole Living from Healthy Dips menu, dated July 2006. This isn’t the recipe she made in the show – which is fine, but at least be consistent. If you’re going to use a different recipe in “print” – you should at least follow that recipe on the show itself.

    Ann – if you click on the recipe, the other 4 lemons were used with the fresh artichokes when being boiled. She then only used one lemon within the dip itself and yes, she did use canned artichokes.

    Marsha – That’s funny. I actually do remember her using ricotta cheese, but not any mayonnaise. I don’t know if I “missed” it, or it could be that the printed recipe calls for mayo, but the recipe she demonstrated on the show, was different. Oh well, looks good anyhow and I want some!!!!

    I noticed the differences but as an intelligent adult, I can work it out. I would make it the way she did on TV. Why? because it’s easier and I’m all about easy (as is LSQ 😉
