Lychee Martini
This drink was inspired by A Single Pebble, one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever eaten at, in the unlikely location of Burlington, Vermont. The syrup from the canned lychees is put to good use as part of the shaken mixture of vodka and vermouth.
- Ice
- 3 ounces vodka
- 1 ounce dry vermouth
- 1/3 cup lychee juice, reserved from can
- 1 can lychee fruit
- Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add in vodka, vermouth, and lychee juice. Shake well. Strain into 2 martini glasses and garnish each with a lychee fruit.
cook's note
BUGA BOO
While I’m willing to branch out from my favorite classic martini and try different versions such as this one, I’m adamantly opposed to commercially flavored vodkas. Every one tastes fake—like toothpaste or candy. Flavor the drink, not the spirit!
