Spiced Chai Latte
Chai, an East Indian word for tea, and latte, Italian for milk, blend together with aromatic spices for a flavorful, exotic beverage that tastes of spice cake. Boys and men appreciate this satisfying pick-me-up both morning and afternoon.
- 2 tablespoons black tea
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 star anise (or other aromatic spice)
- 1 whole cinnamon stick
- 4 cups boiling water
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, or 1/2-inch piece of vanilla bean
- 1 tablespoon natural sugar or honey
- 1/4 cup hot milk
- Put the tea, cloves, star anise, and cinnamon stick in a teapot or heatproof pitcher. Add the boiling water and let steep for 3 to 4 minutes. Strain the tea into 4 cups. Stir in the sweetener and hot milk and serve.
