Recipes from Today’s Show: Japanese Night

Published by

TODAY on MHTV:The flavors of Japanese cuisine are a big culinary inspiration for me, and today I’m sharing three of my favorite authentic recipes. Crispy pork tonkatsu (a breaded and deep-fried pork chop) is sliced and drizzled with a sweet and fresh dashi-mirin sauce. On the side: simple and light cabbage salad and my warm soba salad tossed with mushrooms and crisp cucumbers. More from the show.

If you put corn into a bundt pan, then it is easy to cut the kernals off. The corn tip fits nicely and the kernals drop into the pan. No splatter to clean uo.

    Two things……..

1.) I’ve looked and don’t see any announcement.

2.) Have to agree with Claudia, that John Contratti has a very cool site. Thanks Claudia for sharing. Would love to see him back again.

I was happy to hear you talking about gluten free cooking. However, soy sauce, which you added to the gluten free soba noodles is NOT gluten free. You can buy GF soy sauce…

Made the Tonkatsu and cabbage salad last night for the family. We all LOVED it! I could not find kombu to make the dashi, so I just used the Bonito but the sauce was really awesome .. authentic tasting.

I am glad someone commented on the soy sauce which is not usually gluten free. Please make sure that you purchase gluten free soy sauce for gluten free cooking.
