Recipes from Today’s Show: Taco Night

Published by

TODAY on MHTV: Tacos are a great weeknight meal since many of the components can be prepared in advance. Carnitas, slow-cooked pork browned in its own fat, make for a tender and crispy taco filling. Try topping the carnitas tacos with salsa cruda and set up a DIY taco bar with your other fav ingredients. Lastly, a Mexican-style dinner wouldn’t be complete without homemade margaritas. More from the show.

Hey, Made these carnitas last night…. Followed the recipe exactly, but the amount of salt used is ridiculous. Unfortunately, you could not taste the pork at all because the salt took over the entire flavor. WAY, way too much salt. So, if you decide to make these, maybe use 1 teaspoon of salt. The salt does intensify as the pork slowly cooks and by the time the water is nearly evaporated, the salt flavor is way over the top. Also, it takes way longer for the pork to become tender.

On 10/12/10,you had two recipes…one on taco’s and the other on cooking chicken…I wrote both of them down while watching the show. I have cooked the taco dinner…and it was great. But somehow I lost the paper that I wrote it one.
I would like to cook it tommorrow, as I brought all the ingredients…please if it is not too much trouble to email me all the different parts of the meal…Please…thank you!

I COOKED THE TACOS AND THE SALSA. I DID THE TACO BAR A LITTLE DIFFERENT WITH FOOD MY FAMILY LIKED AND THEY LOVED IT. I AM PLANNING ON COOKING THIS AGAIN IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO. AS FOR THESE PEOPLE WHO SAY TOO MUCH SALT IS IN THE FOOD. PUT LESS IN IF YOU DONT LIKE SALT. I CANT HAVE SALT SO I USE NO SALT SEASONINGS IN MY FOOD.WE LOVED ALL OF IT. THANKS. BARB
