Congratulations Ted! Your recipe for Wicked Pissa BBQ Beans dominated our second annual Game Grub bowl. You’re now the new owner of an awesome  Bodum portable grill, courtesy of our friends at OpenSky.  Click below for the winning recipe:

Wicked Pissa BBQ Beans
The Caswell Family
Lynnfield, MA

Sundays are our FAVORITE day of the week in the Caswell family. Whether it is a warm, summer day and we stay on the beach until the last possible second or a cool fall day where we cheer on the New England Patriots as we cozy up to a warm fire. There seems to be a common theme during all of our Sunday Family events…. Great food and drink! We all love to cook and share our beloved recipes. This version of baked beans is the all time family favorites. It’s spicy, sweet, smoky and savory and goes with anything on the grill. I think you will agree.

Dice 1 pound “thick” bacon – Sauté in large pot or Dutch oven
Dice 2 red peppers and 2 onions – add to bacon once bacon is rendered – 5 minutes

In separate bowl mix:
¼ cup ketchup
¼cup BBQ sauce
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ Maple syrup
¼ cup molasses
2 Tb Cider Vinegar
2 Tb Worcestershire sauce
2 Tb liquid smoke
2 Tb dry mustard

Once bacon is cooked, add: 2 large cans white beans, 1 can black beans, 1 can pinto beans and whatever else you damn well feel like.

Add liquid mix to bean pot – mix well.

Pour beans into deep aluminum foil pan and set uncovered pan in charcoal smoker or Weber (indirect heat).

Cook 1-2 hours at 250- 300 degrees in the smoke, Stir every ½ hour or so.

Before serving … add sliced jalapeños.

bon appétit

LOVE your recipes, I’m a HUGE fan of garlic so I think that helps…Made the Eggplant Parm stacks & had an extra eggplant…Saw the show today w/your bro & the eggplant dip…Roasted the eggplant, but put marinated artichokes in it & smooshed w/a potato masher…Added flavor w/out having to add the extra olive oil…Didn’t have greek yogurt so used a dollop of Daisy (sour cream) Thinkin about topping w/cheese & broiling for a few…I’ll keep watching if you keep using garlic, hehe…Thank You!

As with Nancy, I love the eggplant stacks, but I’m a huge fan of the eggplant rollatini that you made with John Contratti. I always have to make a pan of it for every occasion. I’ve read so much about him of recent. I hope he’s back sharing more recipes with viewers. Congratulations to the Game Grub Bowl winners. Looks yummy.
