MAD HUNGRY ON MARTHA

Published by

This morning 2 of the boys came with me to the MARTHA show where we made New York-style bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/bacon-egg-and-cheese-sandwich, from MH which turned out to be awesome because our crack producer, Barbara Fight (aka Babsy) came up with the awesome idea to serve them to the guys at the beginning of the segment before we demo’d them. Turns out the guys were unfed and starving so they scarfed the sandwiches right down. We also made the flat-roast chicken, p.120 which is a top choice dinner meal around our house and cheesy corn (a homemade version of the neon prepackaged stuff). Behind the scenes at this show are such talented people, including the kitchen (Nikki, Sarah, Nora and Thomas) who prepare and time out the food to perfection. The boys wore these t-shirts, (their idea to make and wear) and I was told a few fems stopped one in the street later in the day inquiring if they were on MARTHA and I’m sure it was the t-shirt they remembered! So, if anyone wants a T-shirt answer the following question from the boys: What is the #1 necessary condiment for a household full of boys?

Heading to Portland, Maine in the morning for the Harvest on The Harbor food fest: am cooking from both the Italian book and MH and signing etc too. The book signing tonight at Darien Public library rocked SO hard: big ups to a wonderful staff: Barbara, Erica, Kathy and Jane but more to come on that.

From the show: hot sauce! Also true at our house, where my husband and son LOVE IT but my daughter and I, not so much. Would love the t-shirt! I'm sitting at Barnes and Noble right now, perusing your book. It's beautiful.Lisazahn8(at)yahoo(dot)com

Hot Sauce! I loved the recipes you had on the show, I'm off this weekend to make the bagel sandwhich for my Husband, he'll love it! Anytime I cook anything he always asks "Where's the Hot Sauce?" followed by "And ketchup!" Hah! I have a new baby boy so I'm sure he'll be "Mad Hungry" soon! ChristinaMonPetitAcorn(at)yahoo(dot)com

Since Calder looked like he wasn't going to be able to eat the sandwich handed to him as he commented "there's no hot sauce on these" I agree with hot sauce as the ingredient. Our 7 year old son ran to get my copy of your book as we were watching the segment and proceeded to mimic you as you cooked – he's already learning to cook!
