Mad Hungry TV day one….
Here are all three boys with me on the set. They join me as their schedules permit when there’s no school, soccer, social life and gallivanting happening. But, Calder (on the right) is actually working on the show right now as a production assistant so any time I can, I grab him to help out (just like home). Miles, a professional cook will be continuing his training in LA this month and Luca (the tallest and youngest: teehee) has a packed high school schedule. For now–they’re all still at home, all still eating mad amounts of food, and all still making me very very happy to be their moms.
“Mad Hungry” is the best of the best! I’ve loved the book since I purchased it (and signed by you!) and the television show ROCKS. I’ve watched episodes 1 & 2 – and I’m hooked.
I love the show and can’t wait to get the book.
I would love to get the receipts from the first show.
I have been reading great things about your show Lucinda! In face, I hear it is the best show on Hallmark!
And I’m liking the look of the blog – very Martha-ish!
Good luck to you with the new show.
An excellent blog and an even more fantastic show –congratulations! You have been the most accomplished cooks from Martha’s empire and I’ve always enjoyed your techniques on Everyday Food. You have a splendid concept, your boys are immensely appealing and I think you’ve got a terrific new show on your hands. I just saw an awesome chile verde on your Twitter page! That’s my signature dish (my secret: celery and serrano peppers)! When will we see it on your show? I have your show on TiVo Season Pass so I’ll never miss it even when I travel. Thanks!
Bonjour,
Congradulations! we love you and your family. I am looking at Mad Hungry’s web site and I am unable to open recipes. Is it how it is or I’m I not doing wrong? thank you Diane
Love your show!!!
Loved today’s show, but how do I get the recipes. Can’t find the spagetti carbonara under your recipes caption.
I bought your book after I found your blog this past spring. I have made the cold sesame noodles three times ( so addicting)and after watching the show I decided to try the flattened chicken, the oven roasted vegetables and the fat girl rice.
I had just been to the farmers market and they had fresh picked beets and carrots.Yum. The chicken was perfect and the pan sauce and lemon sauce went perfectly with the chicken. The rice was very yummy and a nice change from plain rice or potatoes.
The husband gave it all a thumbs up too. My hungry boy has gone off to college but I know there would have been nothing left if he had been home.
LOVE you show!! I have enjoyed watching you every day so far! You make all you recipes fun and easy to follow, in fact, I’m making the chicken and rice for my husbands Birthday tomorrow. I do have a question, is there a way to get the recipes from each show?
Just caught your show and have been checking out your blog. Yum! When we are finished renovating our kitchen I hope to put some of your mad-hungry recipes to use to feed our gang of four boys!
PS Your sister-in-law Jenny told me to stop by. Her kids look adorable on your blog post about picking blueberries : )
I followed the carmelized veggies to the T, they came out noncarmelized, not at all like you showed. Olive oil, salt&pepper,400 oven for 20 to 30 min. The chicken and rice were fine, what went wrong with the veggies? Really want to make this dish for the family. Help
I love the new show, you’ve been my favorite everyday food personality for a long time. I especially look forward to your segments on Martha as well.
Mad hungry has been great, I especially love the beautiful set and your adorable boys, although it scares me that mine just might grow up some day!
Hi Lucinda,
I found your show for the first time this morning and loved it. You are my kind of cook and I look forward to trying your wing recipe. I will definitely be tuning in again and wish you all the best. I to am the mother of sons, 4 of them and 1 daughter and we all love good food and family time together. May God richly bless you and yours.
I love your new show. Can’t wait to try some of your recipes.
I’m really enjoying the Mad Hungry tv show. Lucinda, you are a great host. I can’t wait to get your book.
I didn’t want to post a comment–just wanted to let someone on the show know that I noticed on the show that aired on Monday, 9/20, that Miles’ fingernails were filthy. I cringed every time the camera did a close up of his fingers. Love the show, but completely lost my appetite. I can’t believe he works in kitchens–cooking! I can’t believe no one checked his nails. Gross!!
Love your show! I can’t find your recipes. Where do I go? I’m so disappointed! Help!
Hi I really enjoy your show and I can’t wait to make the breakfast foods and the pie dough. Thankyou for easy to follow recipes with ingredients that a person can find even in a small town where I am from.
I loved the recipe for flattened chicken but cannot remeberit fully. If you have it PLEAsE forward it to me at cpb914@aol.com. Many thanks!!!
I love your show – I have always liked you. I remember watching you on the Martha Stewart Show
and Martha was having trouble removing a cake from a pan. Taking the pan from from her you said, “Oh come on Martha!” then you quickly flipped the pan over and released the cake! I love your confidence and the way you make it all seem so effortless and easy, because, really it is with some practice and CONFIDENCE.
It is also a beautiful treat to see you cooking with with your lovely boys.
This is to the person who commented on dirty fingernails. Please understand that nails can look dirty when working in a kitchen because many foods stain the skin under the nails and it can be impossible to remove those stains. You just have to let them fade naturally. You may notice that many women chefs on TV wear nail polish (something they likely would not do in real life because polish chips and gets into food). The polish covers up stains. But polish isn’t really a cosmetic option for men on TV. Jaques Pepen’s hands were often really scruffy and I recently watched a repeat of Julia Child’s and her nails were far from perfect. “Your hands are your best tools in the kitchen”…so the nails suffer for it.
Watched two of your shows and can’t wait to try the recipes. Coming from an Italian home, watching my mom cook this brought back memories. Your book will be on my xmass liar. Thank you for keeping it simple.a
I too am the mother of 3 hungry boys, I enjoy the banter between you and the boys when they cook with you. I just printed off a bunch of recipes I think my boys would like. Keep up the good work!
I absolutely love your show. Your recipes are easy to follow and they are awesome. I look forward to many more shows. I would love it if you did a show on how to make homemade bread. I always DVR the eposides so I can refer back to them. Keep up the good work!
I just found your show 3 nights a go in south park,pa. i like it. I am not a cook,BUT i watch cooking shows, get mag’s.,collect receipes, and buy kitchen stuff, for some reason now i want to buy a spice rack!! Anyways i like your show and maybe one of these days i will cook something from your show.
Thanks,
Linda
I wish I could see your show but do not have Hallmark yet:( I do however have your cookbook which I got for Christmas and love it! I have two daughters in college who will be getting their own copies for Christmas this year.
What is the wooden spatula/spoon “thing” Lucinda ALWAYS grabs over anything else in the kitchen, to stir foods. I can’t find it anywhere on the internet
I love your show! I record it everyday and just can’t wait to see what your making next. I have most of the recipes on my weekly meal list for the upcoming weeks.
And it is great to know that I will survive the teen years with my own three boys.
Watching your show is like having a “girlfriend” in the kitchen cooking along with me. I should probably grab one of my boys to help in the kitchen.
Thanks for this wonderful show!!!
I just LOVE your very creative new cooking TV show which I try to watch every day. You are SO talented & knowledgeable about cooking & are the BEST in Martha Stewart’s empire!!!!! It is indeed so great to watch you in your “down-to-earth” style of cooking as you create your dishes for your family!!!!!
I cannot wait to purchase your cookbook:”Mad Hungry”!!!!!
Congrats—you are doing such a super job!!!!
Sue Federico
I love the show. In fact, it is the only cooking show that I watch. I have the show setup on my DVR so I don’t miss an epsoide. I have tried a couple of the receipes and can’t wait to try the others.
Thank you Lucinda
Lucinda – I love your show – makes me want to get back into the kitchen and cook. You inspire and I feel like I’m in the kitchen with girl friend cooking and having lots of fun. Having been married for 35 years, dinner (especially) is boring. My husband recently retired and has taken on the job of cooking dinner. It’s a slow go but with your cookbook (Christmas present) he will be able to expand on his menu (thank you). My son too is a good cook. I hope to pass onto my grandchildren a love of cooking. Thanks for reminding me how important (and fun) family cooking is. Thank you. Kathy
I love your cooking show, have to put on record if I’m unable to watch. You make everything sound so simple. My husband and I am retired, but I still prepare a balanced and attractive dinner in the evening. You are attractive and have a great personality.
Thanks, Sandi
The show is great. The presentation is clear and enthusiastic and I can easily make the recipes after just watching them done on TV. Not many TV shows can say that. Only one thing… why is it advertised as “cooking for men and boys?” I’m just a small woman cooking for myself and all of this works just fine for me. You’re missing a large part of your potential audience when you market just to people cooking to families and then just to families of boys.
I love the show and catch it every day. I am retired and do a lot of cooking for myself, but your ideas are so great, and the simplicity of your technique so appealing, that I would feel very deprived to iss an episode. Keep up the good work. You make more fans with every course!
Have really been enjoying your new show and catch it everyday. It is inspiring and very helpful for figuring out “What to fix for dinner”! Its good to see what you’re fixing with varying ingredients and combinations. Thank and keep up the good work!
Your show is wonderful. There hasn’t been a recipe that I haven’t cared for. The Thanksgiving side dish recipes look great and I will try them and there is not doubt they will be delicious, especially the one with the artichoke hearts and can’t wait to try the red cabbage, etc. Keep up the good work. Look forward to watching your show on the Hallmark channel. Laura
I was wondering do you have a cook book? I love you recipes they are excatlly what I like and cooking with olive oil italian My favorite could you let me know
Thank You
I watch your show everyday I have just had surgery.
Kathy
Love your freedom of cooking, like leaving stems on cilantro; I’m taking many great hints from you as well as receipes; love the boys on the show; what a great family; keep on doing the same.
I have stopped watching ABC, and the View since Martha Steward and Lucinda Scala Quinn arrived on Halmark Channel.
I enjoy both informative shows and am learning so much. Thank you.
Ethel Haines
I no longer watch ABC or The View. Much prefer Martha Stewart and Lucinda Scala Quinn.
Thank you Hallmark Channel.
Ethel Haines
I first bought your cookbook last year as a Christmas gift for friends – loved it! Just found your show last month and now my teenage son and I watch you and pick out what we want to make each week. Today we made the chicken pocket pies – simply great. Some for lunched and some for the freezer. Thank you.
You are my new favorite! Every recipe comes out great. My high school senior loves to cook as well and I love the way your sons cook with you and they way they treat you with love and respect.
Love your program and receipts… you have such great boys love to see them cooking with you!
Love your show. Did not think I needed cooking lessons at age 78, but WOW, what wonderful ideas and food you have on your show. Makes me hungry.
I like your style, the way you present your recipes, your lovely family (where is Ritchie’s photo?) and your kitchen, which has been changing its decor, doors, windows, etc. Is this a kitchen at the TV studio? Hope you have your husband on the show sometime. I just love your show, one of the best on TV.
Lois
so glad a fellow Italian cooks something other than pasta. People always think being Italian means spaghetti and meatballs. If they only knew!
I Finally found a place to buy the spatula! visit http://www.kitchencarvers.com
you will not see it on the website but they do have it, just call them.
Hi,i watched your show on Hallmark tv once and i liked it especially the one with the Meditteranean episode about Taboulleh, and being of oriental origin i’d like to post a lot of great healthy eastern reciepes starting from FALAFEL till oven baked food and grilled salads and humus, that will be be loved by a lot of people as i witnessed in the restaurant i managed in NJ.
please guide me to where i can post them on your website so people will benifit of them .
thnx
I just started receiving the Hallmark Channel and discovered your Mad Hungry show. Love It! You are so personable, easy to follow, and obviously an excellent cook and teacher. I am totally hooked and will be buying your books next time out.
I’m so addicted to Mad Hungry! I love Lucinda and her family! I am a true “foodie” and watch plenty of cooking shows, but this is my favorite! Simple, real, down to earth, thanks so much!
I’m a grandma teaching her 13yr old baking and easy cooking. I have tosay she is doing a great job. The next step is learning to clean up the mess and dishes. We love watching you and your handsome boys cook together. I would do dishes all night for the look she gives her Daddy when he compliments her
My family gave me your book, “Mad Hungry” for Christmas. I was already watching your series, and now I sit, with your book in my lap, and take notes and plan dinner. How funny to watch “Julie and Julia” recently and wondered if I’m on the verge of cooking your entire book.
I love your show, I enjoy cooking and your show inspires me and gives me the confidence to try out new recipes for my family! The show is great, it is a comfortable, loving set that you have there, enjoy seeing your boys cook also! Going out this weekend and treating myself to your book! Continued success Lucinda!!
Lucille L.
Just discovered your show! due to a recent surgey Im forced to stay home and I loved the last two days of your cooking, easy recipe’s and my kind of cooking, thanks for sharing your talent. I look forward to making your recipe,s in my kitchen for my family!
Your show is fantastic!! I have three sons myself, 30, 27 and 16.
My dying wish from my own mother to me was to cook for my family.
I am doing such a better job following your lead with delicious meals that everyone loves! Your boys are adorable and I love the relationship you have with them! Keep up the great work. You are the BEST!
I love your show. I was wondering if the place where you tape the show is a set or our home?
I watch your show every morning on the Hallmark channel….Love to watch you and sometime your boys in the kitchen. All your recipes are made easy by you…Hope you remain on the channel for many many years……recipes are always easy and food we can find easily in our supermarkets. Thanks so much….I too am Italian…..and love pasta dishes
My 11 year old daughter, Maddie & I love watching your show. We DVR it so we can replay and write down the recipes….she just loves to cook; but not clean up! We just got your book under the tree. Over Christmas vacation, 1/2 of our family was in Florida on a band trip, she insisted on making the Chocolate Bundt cake….she did not want to eat any…just bake it; which left me alone to do all the eating! We have a nice mother/daughter show to watch together because of you! Thanks.
Just before the holidays, my Wife and I were at Barnes & Noble and I found “Mad Hungry”. I asked my Wife for your book for X-mas…I didn’t get it. Although disappointed I moved on…Then, A few days ago I was channel surfing and there it was…I still want the book but untill then the TV show and this website will do the trick.
I watch your show religiously with my mother. I was taught how to cook from her. I love the fact how you have your family come on and cook up your fabulous dishes. Please keep on giving us your delicious recipes. See you on your next show!
We look froward to your program every morning and as retired folks you have renewed our interest in cooking and trying new recipes. We have enjoyed everything that we have tried and have bought your cookbook as well. Love to see your family share in the program – Thanks so much!!
Love the show! Leave your kids at home!!!!!!!!
I watch your show every morning on Hallmark,if for some reason I have to be away then I set the DVR. After the passing of my mother 7 yrs.ago I have lost my passion for a lot of things. But you have renewed my passion for cooking again. Seeing you and your boys in the kitchen with you made me realize that my mother would want me to contuine on with things that brought me pleasure. Love you and your show. I have told so many people about it and they love it to. You go girl.
What a beautiful family.
Your show format is perfection. I would love to know where I could acquire one of those wood spoon/spatulas you use so often. If you could inform me it would be greatly appreciated by this dedicated home cook.
Love this show, it’s the BEST cooking show on TV!
I too, would love to purchase one of those wooden spoon/spatulas that Lucinda uses. do you think the man who carved them would consider selling them on-line? I live in New Orleans…very far from Seattle!
Love your show!!! You are also a great Mom!! Keep the show going!!
Lucinda,
Thank you, thank you for your show. I’ve learned so much about cooking – practical, usable tips and ideas.
At the church meal after my grandmother’s funeral, one of the ladies brought a pecan cream pie. It had a sweet stickly filling, kind of like a standard pecan pie, but rather opague tan, not clear golden.
The topping was whipped cream, not meringue. Might you have any interest in giving it a try? I’ll be watching.
Danny Wesley
Mad Hungry TV is the best cooking show on tv. The recipes are practical, family friendly and so tasty! Love the show and look forward to many more.
I enjoy your show! What a lucky woman you are to have such wonderful boys. 🙂
Love your hair and the tops you wear on the show too.
🙂

I just started watching your show and I love it! Your recipes look so tastey and I can’t wait to see how your “Caribbean Jerk Chicken”, that I have marinating now, is going to taste later tonight! I also enjoy listening to your stories about your nana and family. Thanks for a great show!
Love your show! I actually found it by accident searching something for my 8 year old to watch. All it took was one episode and now my family is hooked! Love the way you cook with your son on the show, we saw the bacon egg deli sandwich episode. I just regret not finding your show earlier. My youngest wants to cook with you on the show.
Jeannie, mom of
Kristina & Valerie
Love the show, family is just great looking. Tonight husband & I will be making your corn dogs, my daughter just loves corn dogs. I’ll let you know how we did. Plan on serving beans & A salad with them. Really need to try some of your Jamican dishes.
