MH MY Way: Scott Hargrove

Published by

BEC Challenge winner, Scott Hargrove, sent us a really nice letter. And we mean really, really nice:

Dear Lucinda and MH Team,

I just returned from a brief trip out to the Oregon coast (sourcing great local seafood to serve to my friends and clients) and was so happy to see your package in my stack of mail.  Thank you so much!  It was so fun to participate in the competition and a great honor to win.

I have been a longtime fan of yours through MS Living, The Martha Show, Everyday Food and of course Mad Hungry.  In fact, it was you and Martha who were my inspiration to pursue a Culinary degree and to make cooking my full-time life.  I am now a caterer, private chef and cooking instructor in Portland, Oregon and prior to that ran the cooking school program for Sur La Table….My approach to cooking and food is very similar to what you are doing with Mad Hungry in that I am focused on getting folks back to the table with their family around homemade, soul-satisfying meals.

Many thanks,
Scott Hargrove

We always like to hear what inspires people to get in the kitchen and if Scott had never entered the challenge we never would have known about all the great stuff he’s been doing–aside from running his business, Scott also has an awesome blog that’s worth checking out: www.scotthargrove.blogspot.com

We may be BEC’d out but don’t forget to send your best chicken wing recipe to madhungrylsq@gmail.com by noon tomorrow, Wednesday 11/17. We’re pumped to see what you’ve got!

I have been taping and watching the show and truly enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the kitchen and the wonderful recipes.
How is it that Lucinda never seems to get splattered with olive oil?

And Scott had the best crawfish etouffee recipe ever. It’s posted on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/ScooterSMcGee#p/search/1/WbTJYTzKh4I

Scott Hargrove is a fraud. I have found several of his recipes to have been pilfered from legit chefs. For his Asian buffalo wigs, he looks into the camera and says “this is my particular recipe that I came up with”. Aside from a couple of tweeks, it is Emerils recipe. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/sweet-and-spicy-asian-wings-recipe/index.html

The only thing I would recommend is to monitor the way your body feels after eating and enjoying certain foods. You may discover that certain foods reduce your body fat loss or make you feel sluggish after eating.
