Recipes From Today’s Show: Men Love Pie

Published by

TODAY on MHTV @ 11:30 a.m. ET: If there’s one thing I know, it’s that men love pie. I’m making two doughs—a basic pie dough and a cream cheese based dough—they’re super simple and the key to having a good baking arsenal. I’m also making a classic apple pie (the hubs’ fave) and savory beef empanadas. More from the show.

Can the cream cheese dough be frozen and then thawed out to use later? Thanks for all your great recipes!

I made the Empanadas on Saturday to freeze for future eating. The filling tasted so good. I like the combination of the raisins and the green olives. I know the pastry is easy to work with and delicious because I have made the chicken pocket pies twice now.

Made the apple pie tonight and the crust was amazingly easy and better than my grandmother’s recipe I’ve always used! YUM! Thanks! Tomorrow it’s empanadas! 😉

Thanks Tschaka. I have noticed that wheat sttstibuues like this one tend to be a blend of different flours. I tried to make my own pasta with cornmeal and rice-flour but it was way too gloopy to form into a dough. I guess other products like xanthan gum are indispensable, eh? Thanks again!
