Recipes from Today’s Show: Beef Patties

Published by

TODAY on MHTV: One of the best ways to save time during the week is having something you can just throw right in the oven from the freezer, but it’s even better if it’s homemade. Jamaican-style beef patties with curry-seasoned dough and a spicy ground beef filling can be made in advance and stored in the freezer uncooked. When you need one just pop it in the oven for 15 min; they can be eaten for lunch, dinner or anything in between. The sweet flavor of a rum-ginger drink goes great with the patties, and it’s a snap to make. More from the show.

ignore comment from Kat M. she obviously never had kids…..I love the interaction between you and the boys….so real it makes me laugh…..reminds me of the good ole days since my “kids” are 27 and 33 now!!
Just found your show while I was stuck doing some spring cleaning in my closet….I’m now a devoted fan. Also just back from our first trip to the Big Easy and can’t wait to prepare your New Orleans dishes. Looking forward to more!!

I really appreciate your show. I really like the interactions with your sons. You make cooking look easy, I think that is why kids need to know how to make fritters like you did this week along with the chi tea which I made and it was delicous. Thanks and keep up letting us know cook at home is just as easy as going out for fast. I do have a question how do you clean your cutting board. Can an answer be posted? You make everything look so easy.
    Thanks for your show!

Your show is the best! Easy to follow yummy recipes. You make cooking look so stressless, fun, and enjoyable. Wondering what other spice to use instead of curry for the Beef Patties? Thanks. BT

I love your show and have made quite a few of your recipes. I love watching your sons cook with you. I have 4 children of my own and they are always in the kitchen with me. If not helping, they are watching and learning. Thank you, LSQ.

Not sure if I did something wrong. It seems to have a slimy consistency. Haven’t made into pie yet. Is the filling suppose to be slimy? If not don’t want to go through work to make pies

I made these patties with diced chicken thigh meat and a little chopped dried apricots for a sweet component, and leftover filling for a savory tomato-eggplant pie. They were yummy. Barb, my Jamacian friends use a fair amount of thyme in their cooking, I wonder if jerk seasoning mix would be good? Guess I’ll try a little the next time I make the. I froze some and gave them to a co-worker who has a West Indian husband, she wants the receipe. I think King’s Hawiian Bread is like coco bread, for the sandwich Lucinda talked about for the patties.

I’ve been recording Mad Hungry since the beginning…wouldn’t miss a show. Love the recipes, love you, love the guys’ your mom and friends, love the great tips! Knew the information presented would be valuable because of your “other job”. I don’t know how you do it all, but please don’t stop. My personal food tastes match yours like no other…maybe some things a bit too spicy, but that’s how we learn and grow. Thanks! Brava, Lucinda!
