Recipes from Today’s Show: Improvisational Pantry

Published by

TODAY on MHTV: Some days you’ve just got to make do with what’s on hand. Today, I’m turning ordinary pantry items into dishes that sing. I’m seasoning black beans with garlic and cumin, preparing a tomato and chickpea sauce for pasta, and giving popcorn a pop with chili powder and lime. Finally, I’m whipping up a batch of irresistible dark chocolate-peanut butter bars. More from the show.

Is there any way you can expand your RSS feed view? I only get two lines of text and I much prefer more and with pictures. It makes my decision to go to blog more likely.
    Thanks

I love these recipes and this method of meal planning. Thank you so much for sharing! It reminds me of the old food network show door knock dinners. It was one of my absolute favorites!

I just made the dark chocolate peanut butter bars from the improvisational pantry episode and I had to throw the whole mess away before I even got them in the pan. Thank goodness I wasnt making these to take anywhere, the marshmallow, pb, and chocolate mixture was horribly stiff and I couldnt mix any of the other ingredients in. What a waste of time and money, it was expensive to buy all of these ingredients just to throw them in the garbage. I dont think I will be trying anymore of these recipes, I am very disapointed.

Love the black beans and rice recipe! I always have dried and canned beans (I pay extra for my store brand organics because they don’t add the same sodium levels as the regular cans). I’m always looking for “use up” meals for the pasta, beans and frozen vegetables I always have on hand. This will definitely be part of my rotation. I was worried at first that they wouldn’t be too flavorful, but the oregano and cumin were great. My only switch up was the addition of Tabasco right to the pan since I was eating alone and like it spicy. I will also use the idea of serving this to people along with the chili type of additions; cheese, raw onions, chips, etc. as a last minute dish for guests.

I made the peanut butter bars yesterday and had the SAME problem as Beth.
I was disappointed I followed from the TV and didn’t see where I could get the real recipe here to find you used dark chips etc.
I also have to question the amounts you state. I couldn’t even add the pretzels before it got too stiff.
I LOVE to watch your show every day but——?

This dish was horrible! Disregard all these comments. I’m not trying to be rude, but not a fan.
