Recipes from Today’s Show: Lunch Party
TODAY on MHTV: Don’t order takeout for a house full of hungry people; a quick lunch can be ready before you know it. A super simple guacamole recipe gets a flavor boost from Serrano chiles–it’s a fast app that will keep everyone busy while you work on the rest of the meal. For the main course, baked corn tortillas stuffed with beans and cheese are healthier than the traditional fried version (and just as addictive) and sweet banana cake for dessert leaves everybody happy and full. More from the show.
PS–Stay tuned for a surprise from the set!!

Just a note – putting the avocado pit in the guacamole does NOT do ANYTHING. It’s an old wive’s tale. An experiment was done in which one bowl of guacamole had the avocado pits put into it, and another with ping-pong balls. They turned brown at the same rate. Please, if you “don’t have any scientific information” as to why something “works,” please look it up before you pass that info along.
I was wondering if someone could share with me a resource to get jars like the one’s Ms. Lucinda uses on the show. I would like wide mouth jars to hold baking supplies and I like the ones on the show.
Who is Tessie? Would love the story behind her.
why am I unable to obtain the recipe for the banana cake made on the 4/5/11 show?????
I, too, cannot view the banana cake recipe.
Thanks! These look yummy.
Just looked up the recipes and they were all visible:)
Joe sanders pay attention she said she had no bases for her info. It probably takes longer to brown with the pit whatever who cares……
I also like those glass jars. I always make a mess with flour!
The banana cake is super easy to make and tastes wonderful!!! Love the show, love the recipes. I like being able to watch the video for the recipes, too. Keep up the great show!
Made this banana cake, family loved it! Gobbled it right up–yummy Lucinda, thanks.
I think Joe is right. I was hoping that the pit would make a difference in the browning of the guacamole but it did not. Also, there needs to be lemon or lime juice included in the recipe.
I made the Banana cake and took it to work. It was a fabulous hit and everyone wanted the recipe. I gave you the credit. I also make the flautas for my husband and I. We loved them. Love your show. Don’t miss it.
