Recipes from Today’s Show: Mad Healthy Food for Colds

Published by

TODAY on MHTV @ 11:30 am: My family knows my first line of defense against sickness is always a natural one, so I’m going to share a few of my homemade remedies with you. My chicken broth elixir can’t be beat to drive away a cold; drinking a few glasses per day plus sleep will help you get well in no time. You can also use it as a base for other meals, like tortilla soup. Lime-honey ice pops are super easy and great for soothing a sore throat. If you’re sick but you’re still hungry, try soft-boiled eggs on buttery toast with a hot mug of fresh ginger tea. More from the show.

I really enjoy watching her cook and make different things that she makes. They are real simple things with no hard ingredients to find to make her foods she shares, and have tried making a few of them. They taste pretty good!

I love your show. Especially when it’s on for an hr.
I plan my morning coffee when your on and I just sit and listen and watch. Just one thing. Everyone in this world cannot eat spicey foods. Why do all the cooking shows have such spicey receipes. We’ve lived for yrs.w/o the hot peppers etc. and our food was delicious. When it’s spicey it takes away from the taste of the rest of the food. I’m considered quite a good cook (according to family and friends)and at the age of a young 78 I’m not about to start eating any thing that is spicey. Other than that I love your receipes. Love it when your sons are on.
Hope your on for a long long time. Love your smile.

When I went to print BANANA CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES, I could not find how to print just the recipe. We need to save trees by not using so much papaer and of course printing ink. Thanks! Love all Martha’s shows.

I tried twice to make the soft boiled eggs. First time, I boiled them for exactly 4 minutes as LSQ recommended. When I opened them the whites were not even close to being done. The second time, I tried 5 minutes and the whites were cooked but hard to get out of the shell and the yolks were only slightly runny. hahaha I wish I could make these properly…maybe practice makes perfect. It is hilarious that it seems to be so difficult for me. I use pastured eggs, so maybe their shells are thicker and perhaps that affects cooking time? In the meantime, I’m just doing the same thing with the toast and topping them with eggs fried over easy in my cast iron skillet in some buttery Pam. Still comforting though. Thanks LSQ!
