Recipes from Today’s Show: One-Pot Holiday Cooking

Published by

Today on MHTV: When the holidays roll around, so does company. Make entertaining a crowd easy with a one-pot meal. My Boeuf Bourguignon soup is hearty and filled with short ribs and veggies that I like to serve along with Herbed Egg Noodles and Horseradish Chive Bread for dipping. Buttery Apple Crisp with a brown sugar oat topping rounds out a one pan dessert that’s sure to please.

I listened again to how you love the tomato paste in the tube. this is so inconsistent with your claim to cook frugally. That tube is so expensive it would be cheaper to buy the can use what you want and throw the remainder out. If you freeze milk and everything else why can’t you freeze the tomato paste from the can in 1 Tsp cubes and use as needed.

That’s exactly what I do. A recipe usually calls for 1 or 2 T. of tomato paste, so I freeze the rest and use it as I need it. The tube sounds convenient, but I’ve never seen it anywhere.

If I need quite a bit of paste, I use a can because the tube is obviously so expensive. But I also hate waste and find the idea of throwing out extra paste to be inconsistent with frugal cooking as well as being an irresponsible use of food. The tube keeps just about forever in the refrigerator for those times when you need just a dab. I have limited freezer space plus the fact that I don’t get a chance to use leftover paste sometimes until it’s been in the freezer too long. I don’t see anything inconsistent with frugal cooking here.

Love the recipes from this program and Lucinda’s style. Keep it up!

I freeze the remander of the paste FLAT in a zip-lock bag and when I need more paste at a future date, I just break off what I need. I’ve never had to throw any away and it takes up practically no space in the freezer.

For my health that alowls me the freedom to be active and experience new things. For my wife who reminds me that sanity is just around the corner, loves me during the ups and downs, who will grow old with me, guide me, and understands me.For my two sons who try my patience, bring laughter into my life, allow me to appreciate every day I live, and affirm why I try to live each day positively. For my education that no one can take away from from me, and has allowed me to support my family. For those who love me and forgive me.
