SATURDAY SPOILS

Published by

Dead of winter farmers market booty. Dinner thoughts are Chicken roast with cipolini onions and fingerling potatoes, sauted kale-cabbage, apple pie. But, first will pilfer a few dinner fingerlings for a breakfast dish inspired by the folks at Momofuko noodle bar. Crispy bacon, scallions and a slow poached egg.

Hi Lucinda, your posts always seem to make me hungry! I don't know of any other way to contact you, so I though trying on your blog would be a good idea… I hope you don't mind me being a little off-topic.I absolutely adore your book. My mom purchased the book a while back and instead of her cooking through it, I cook through it (probably because I added it to my cookbook collection, and took it away from hers). I wanted to write this comment because I was wondering if I could use one of your recipes on my food blog. See, I am a 17-year old food blogger (I'm a dude) and I began in April of last year. I have been trying to better my photography and writing skills, while also trying to share delicious, sophisticated recipes that I have learned since I was six-years old. Up until 3 weeks ago, I swore by one pancake recipe, but when I decided to give your old fashioned pancake recipe a try, I feel in love. The second time I made the recipe, I added 2 medium ripe bananas and about 1/8 tspn of cinnamon. Those banana pancakes were probably the best pancakes that I have ever had in my life! So, what do you say? Can I use your pancake recipe with my adjustments? I will link to your book, your twitter account, and this blog. And if you want, I can also review your amazing book, as well. I'll do anything to post this delicious pancake recipe on my site. I am sorry for making this comment so long, and for not emailing you, but there is no contact form, etc. on here, so I didn't know what to do. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Kamran: with my absolute pleasure you may use my recipe adjusted for banana's etc (oldest son's favorite variation ditto with chocolate chip cookies). I think these requests are officially meant to go through my publisher Artisan books BUT–I see many posts of MH recipes and I know they aren't all official. Please give me your blog link and keep me updated on your cooking and writing. Love to know of dudes cooking. Btw, your post made ME happy! Best LSQ

SCAREY–Is that you Sarah Carey? Folks, meet my colleague and EDF PBS co-host Sarah who has mad pie skills! She's talking about making chicken pot pie in a straight sided sheet pan which is the coolest. Went to make my apple pie last night and the MDQ had deaded the flour yet replaced the empty package, natch.Almost wung something with cornmeal somehow but instead will make RJQ his favorite pie today. Also the Farmers Market had incredible apple varieties too–bought 3 kinds tart, 1 kind sweet. That cabbage/kale was insane–hardly any water to let out. Peace out. LSQ

Hi Lucinda, thanks sooo much, I really appreciate it! My blog is: http://sophisticatedgourmet.com I haven't been posting regularly because I am patiently waiting to get my new camera and lens, which I should have by next weekend. I am too excited. I do have photos of the pancake post ready, but I think I will re-do that post with the new camera, as that recipe is too awesome! I will definitely keep you up-to-date. Once again, thanks so much! 🙂 P.S. I used my name and URL instead… I didn't notice that I was signed in yesterday… So, when you click on my name, it should go directly to my site. 🙂

Help – I need some serious help with my cast iron skillets. How to clean and care. Saw the Mad Hungry program where it went into great detail, but need to view again and cannot find it!

Pickled carrots..I’m enjoying the segment about the burger party and pickled carrots.
I think the kids would have enjoyed the pickles even more if you had added some slices of fresh jalapenos to the jar …..YUMMY!
