I get tons of feedback on here and on facebook about people making the Mad Hungry recipes or their riffs on them so on Mondays, we’d like to start posting Mad Hungry MY Way Mondays, a part of the mad hungry blog where we show YOUR Mad Hungry Meals.
This week’s Mad Hungry my Way comes from two cuties, Nicolas and Sofia, that are “Mad Hungry about Mad Hungry”. Their dad, Abe, emailed us their story:
My wife Anna is a fourth grade teacher and went back to work when the kids were a year old. Anna is a teacher and since the kids were born, Anna comes home from work every evening and makes a fresh meal for the family from scratch, most of the ingredients she uses are organic. And the meals? Well, let’s just say that they are always incredibly creative and good! So the kids have basically grown up in the kitchen with an understanding of what is healthy and what is not. Every evening, as much as I can be there because of my work schedule, we eat as a family. And on the weekends, we usually have breakfast, lunch and diner together and the kids take every opportunity to be in the kitchen and “help” out as much as possible. More often than not we shop for a groceries together and the kids really enjoy that too. Anna and the kids make your show “appointment television,” they DVR it, watch it and discuss the recipes and what they like, what ingredients they would substitute, the set, your kitchen tools among other things. The kids NEVER want to miss “Mad Hungry”, and ask if there’s a new show on DVR all the time. You are frequently quoted by Sofia and Nicolas in the kitchen or in the grocery store, or on our monthly field trip to Chelsea Market and the meat packing district. It seems as if “Mad Hungry” is their time to connect with their mom around a subject and activity that everyone enjoys. So last week, during one of your shows, the kids said “we want to make a video of one our recipes for Lucinda and send it to her.” Anna and I thought it was great idea and we made the video. We hope enjoy it as much as we relished making it, and as much as the kids enjoy watching and learning from you.
