Recipes From Today’s Show: Weekend Cook

Published by

Today on MHTV: Mexican food is a Quinn family favorite so today a I’m cooking up a feast. In order to make really down-home Mexican food, you really have to put the time in. The husks need a good soak and then, I make the tamale dough; it’s the perfect “weekend kitchen project” so I’m making Tamales two ways: Cheesey Jalapeño and Shredded Chicken. Blistered tomatillos, jalapeños and onions make Salsa Verde to top the tamales and and colorful fruits are blended with a bit of sugar and lime create a refreshing Aqua Frescas to drink.

Recipes from this Episode:

Cheese and Jalapeno Tamales

Salsa Verde

Agua Fresca

Watch ”Mad Hungry with Lucinda Scala Quinn” Mondays through Fridays at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT on Hallmark Channel.

Where are the recipes for today’s show 11-25-11? I don’t see a link.
    Thanks,
    Rosalie

  • Same here: I need the recipes, if not I will not bother watching the show...why watch? and I won't be back here either. Catch on????? November 25, 2011 at 12:22 pm

    Why watch?

  • Cherie McNaul November 25, 2011 at 12:34 pm

wow, tough crowd! There are tons of other free recipe websites out there. If you watched this episode, why didn’t you write down the recipe while she made the tamales?
I presume you have a “pause” button on your remote control don’t you?

as for the salsa verde, I still can’t stand the flavor of the tomatillos.

Where is the recipe for the tamales? The link keeps bringing me back to the home page with errors on the page. Oh well I guess I will not try your tamales; mine are better than yours. 😉

I am literally waiting to print out the tamale recipe so I can make them for dinner tonight! The link to the recipe isn’t working!

Where is the recipe for the drink she made? I got the recipe for the tamales, but I was really interested in the liquid refreshment. I didn’t write down the name of the recipe, because I thought I would find it when I got to the wevbsite.
It doesn’t appear to be listed.

  • amanda November 25, 2011 at 2:11 pm

The drink is just fresh fruit (pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, etc) blended with a little water and 3 tablespoons sugar, then strained and add more water. I think it is called aqua fresca

Please can you send to me the tamales recipe I can find on the web. Thanks

Geez, people! Why so rude? LSQ does a great show and so what if technology got messed up today? Maybe they gave IT people a 4 day weekend for the holiday. That’s the great thing about the computer. Every now and then, somebody makes a mistake. LSQ is a cook, not a computer/technology expert. So try the site later for the recipies you missed today. Somebody will probably get the link fixed soon.

Will the recipes from 11/25/11 be posted?

  • Gerri November 26, 2011 at 10:03 am

Like the above viewers, I was very disappointed when I went to download/save the recipe for the tamales. There was no way to access the normal routine that I have grown to expect. Will these
    recipes be posted? Hopefully so.

    Thank you………Gerri

Calm down people. I’m sure on Monday, when the 4 day weekend is over, it will be fixed. I just want to know if Lucinda will be filming more Mad Hungry episodes. Many have asked and there is never an answer. She made a batch over the summer and the new ones are running out. It would be nice if she or “Lo” would answer our questions about that. We invest our daily lives in a show, it’s nice to be updated.

Folks: I am very sorry about the frustration and confusion on this website.
Mad Hungry is a part of the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia website. FIrst thing Monday morning I’ll take this up with the right people. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do now. Please be patient. Thank-you, Lucinda

I am missing something the recipe for the chicken tamales?? Your recipe and instructions for the masa and forming of the tamales is one of the easiest to follow, which is why I would your chicken recipe. Thanks for mixing things up, you always give us a variety of things to cook and inspire.

I’ve never been a cooking show groupie before, Lucinda, but I am now! I always say I raised two sons and a husband, and so many of your recipes are perfect “guy food.” It figures the tamale receipe would show up eventually, so why worry? Today I went out and bought all the stuff for them. Love your show…you’ve brought back a lot of the joy I used to feel when I cook. Thank you!

    Hi,

Still waiting for your recipes for the tamales from last week.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to make them. So, I would love to make them. I did the show but did not have a chance to tape it. I thought it would be easier if I get the information from your site.

Could you give the recipe. Would appreciate this.

    Thank you!
