TUNE IN to MAD Hungry Today for recipes that turn up the heat-I’ll be making new-orleans style beans, white rice and eggs and crunchy sesame chicken wings with my family’s favorite condiment, hot sauce. For the hot-sauce weary: although my boys love super hot sauce everything, these recipes add more depth of flavor than heat.

    I’ve made your New-Orleans Style Beans 3 times, and today after making the entire recipe, I felt like having soup so I took my immersion blender and added a little bit of water to get the right consistency and it came out yummy. I used bacon and it was easily blended. I added a little bit of rice into my bowl of soup and a little bit of shredded cheese and voila!! New-Oreleans Style bean Soup 🙂
    Thank you again for your show. I love to cook and bake and I have learned most of my techniques by watching food shows and cook books but your show is different then all the other ones. You give really good advice and tricks to cut corners but it’s still homemade and fresh (not like some other cooks that use all boxed/canned foods to make a quick meal). Unfortunately, my whole family is spread out throughout North America and Europe so I don’t have a chance to learn family traditions/techniques, but when I watch your show, you give me the motivation/inspiration to start new traditions.
    I could go on and on about how I really enjoy watching/listening/learning from you.

    I cannot find the recipe for the New Orleans style Red Beans and Rice. I saw the tv episod with it last week and came here to find the recipe, but it is not posted as well as the egg on white rice with hot sauce and other recipes for that day. I would realy like to get it. Pretty please, please, please.

    I have been meaning to write to you…. and always thought secondly, but not everyone is addicted to heat. Some of us LIKE the taste of beef or chicken, etc. and don’t find the need to add chili flakes, or cayene, etc. If you want to do a “heat show” then so state it. I use to enjoy your show but lately it is for those who like heat or are addicted to it.

    I loved your “heat show!” My husband and I are both addicted to heat and are always looking to expand our receipes. Your sesame chicken wings looked particularly appetizing. Will you post that recipe? Also, do you turn the wings over when baking for even browning?

    On the subject of personal preferences for heat or not: I never wanted to add heat to any of my cooking except chili or tacos. However, with LSQ’a encouragement to use hot sauce, chilis, etc, I have been learning to use it and now enjoy a moderate level of heat in many different recipies. I bought a bottle of Sriracha and use it now several times a week as well as various types of dried chilis, chili powder and hot and sweet Thai sauces. I am so glad that she introduced a new cooking flavor into my menus and so is my husband. for those who do not enjoy “heat”, the hot stuff is usually not an essential ingredient to most of the recipies I’ve seen and you can easily leave it out or use in much small amounts. I have not yet been brave enough to add SIX scotch bonnets to ANYTHING I’ve tried. My limit is 1 or 2 serranos or jalepenos. LOL

The 12:00 slot in the Atlanta market was great for me (the reruns are beginning now at 11:00 for the new year so far)But no new show yet..Thanks again Lucinda..love the show for all the great tips, easy going “style” and easy great tasting recipes…Kathy F.
