Epic Game Day Eats for Sunday

Published by

It’s kind of awesome for me to announce that I’m participating in the Visa/NFl Make It Epic Campaign. For any TV viewer not living under a rock—you’ve proably glimpsed the Epic action while watching the football games. Truthfully, football has generally fallen under the “if you can’t beat ‘em join ‘em” category my whole life. And so it goes that my true path in to the whole football affair is food. With #MakeItEpic, I’ve been asked to lend my expertise on what I cook in real life: epic game day eats. With the big game up on Sunday, read up below for some state-driven game day strategy.

As the single sister to three brothers in the very footballish city of Detroit and the mother of three son’s and a husband in our very “footballish” New York City apartment—it was really my only choice.

Feeding and being fed by our Mad Hungry crowd is my goal. The NFL teams themselves BECOME THE JUMP OFF FOR our menu strategy.

And the tactics start here:

This week I’m thinking San Francisco eats (Shrimp Scampi) VS Atlanta eats (Fried Chicken and Waffles).

Baltimore eats (Crab Cakes) VS New England eats (Clam Chowder).

We’ll face off Shrimp Scampi against fried chicken and the chowder against the crab cakes (with maybe a grasshopper cake as “ref”). Each Quinn male can make the recipe of choice. I’ll happily sit back and watch the games while nibbling away on my favorite team.

I am blogging on behalf of the Visa Make it Epic campaign and receive compensation for my time, but the thoughts, words, and promotions on this page are mine, not Visa’s.

The greatest of news. We love Lucinda. But I’ve seen every episode. I’ve saved many on my DVR. Please make new episodes. Please bring back teacher, John Contratti. His blog has kept me going with great recipes and I would love to see him cook some of them on a new episode of Mad Hungry.

The best news I’ve heard. Let’s hear from Lucinda.

Wow!! I’m happy to hear the news.Mad Hungry is what the Hallmark Channel claims to be. They should order another batch of new episodes.

I agree with Scott’s comment. It’s John Contratti’s website “Cooking With Mr. C.” that has kept me going ever since Mad Hungry disappeared. This gentleman has brought plenty of attention to Mad Hungry. I hope if the show has any intentions of returning with new episodes, he’s one of the first guests that returns.

Where is Lucinda on here? The announcement that Mad Hungry is coming back on should be on here also.

    Darlene

  • Estelle January 19, 2013 at 2:07 pm

It is us bloggers (along with Facebookers) who helped bring back this show. Let’s see some acknowledgement on here.

    Estelle

  • Frank January 19, 2013 at 2:18 pm

If Lucinda posted the above “Epic Game Day Eats”, why not some mention that the show is returning? She has it on Facebook.

    Frank

  • Jennifer January 19, 2013 at 2:19 pm

I love that teacher’s blog. He has some very tasty recipes. I want to see him cook with Lucinda again.

    Jennifer

  • Claire January 19, 2013 at 2:20 pm

It shows the power of our voice. Mad Hungry is perfect on the Hallmark Channel. Tell Hallmark we want more new episodes.

    Claire

  • Crystal January 19, 2013 at 2:21 pm

It’s about time the show returned. But repeats can’t go on forever.

    Crystal

  • Sid January 19, 2013 at 2:22 pm

I have seen every episode over and over again. Glad it’s back, but come on MH and Lucinda, talk with Hallmark and make a deal for new episodes.

    Sid

  • Laurie January 19, 2013 at 2:23 pm

I hope MH has copied all blogger comments and all Facebook comments and have sent them to Hallmark. Fight for your show Mad Hungry.

    Laurie

  • Adele January 19, 2013 at 2:26 pm

It is more than obvious that Mad Hungry has always been the perfect fit with the new shows Home and Family and Marie. It’s taken Hallmark Channel a long time t figure that out. With the reruns of family themed shows (Happy Days, Brady Bunch), we want to serve our families Lucinda’s meals while we watch these family favorites. Wake up Hallmark Channel. Can’t you see the connection.

  • Kerry January 19, 2013 at 2:26 pm

    Lucinda,

Please say hello to us on here. Tell us what’s going on.

    Kerry

  • Ethel January 19, 2013 at 2:28 pm

I’m 80 years old. I don’t do facebook and I’m not a tweeter. Luckily I can find this blog. That is why I feel we should get just as much attention as the other Mad Hungry outlets. We have been the #1 supporters from the very beginning.

  • Tina January 19, 2013 at 2:35 pm

My neighbor just told me the show is returning. We have always lived for this show since September 2010. So here are questions for Lucinda. I hope she reads her blog?

    1. When is the cookbook coming?
    2. When did you hear MH was back on the Hallmark Channel?
    3. What the Hallmark Channel preaches, about home and family, don’t you feel , like all of us, “Mad Hungry” is the perfect show for the Hallmark Channel?
    4. When will you film new episodes of Mad Hungry?
    5. Can you please bring back teacher John Contratti? So many MH fans have followed him ever since you introduced us to him. I know what a huge MH fan he is since the very beginning.
    6. Has the Hallmark Channel been in touch with you?
    7. How does it feel to know, how much love people have for you and the show?

Sorry for all the questions, but you know how passionate we all are for MH and you.

    Tina

  • Georgette January 19, 2013 at 2:58 pm

    Hi Lucinda,

What fabulous news? My only questions is (actually I have the same as Tina, above), When will you make new episodes?

    Georgette

  • Talia January 19, 2013 at 4:28 pm

I am excited to hear the news. But enough of the reruns. There’s an audience out there for new episodes.

    Talia

  • Alex January 19, 2013 at 5:34 pm

I, like so many, like to see Lucinda talk to us on here. We have been the original supporters of Mad Hungry.

    Alex

  • Belinda January 19, 2013 at 5:36 pm

What great news. But I want to see new episodes, not reruns.

    Belinda

  • Estelle January 19, 2013 at 5:43 pm

In response to Scott from today’s comments, John Contratti’s blog has become very popular and he has the tastiest recipes. Like all of us, I hope Mad Hungry is going to make new episodes. I’ve missed Lucinda and Calder for months. So I’m hoping the guy with so many good and original recipes will cook again with Lucinda. If Mad Hungry is smart they will get this guy cooking again. I can name a dozen recipes of his right off the top of my head that are top notch. Finally, come on Hallmark Channel, Lucinda deserves to make new episodes of Mad Hungry.

    Estelle

  • Alice January 19, 2013 at 10:10 pm

Glad to hear MH is coming back. But repeats won’t make me happy. Also, comments on Facebook, how about Lucinda coming in here.

    Alice

  • Rhonda January 19, 2013 at 10:12 pm

Glad to hear the show is returning to the Hallmark Channel. I have seen all 180 episodes over and over again. Come on MH Crew, let Hallmark know how loved you are and get them to order more episodes.

    Rhonda

  • Gina January 19, 2013 at 10:17 pm

I love this blog like all of you. I do understand, people who don’t have Facebook feel left out, which isn’t fair. Here is what Lucinda posted on Facebook earlier today.

So excited and overwhelmed with the support you’ve all shown with the return of MHTV! Thank you for the kind words and love for Mad Hungry. xx LSQ

I agree with everyone, she should have commented and thanked everyone on here. I just don’t get it. This blog is what made her famous to all of us.

    Gina T.

  • Una January 19, 2013 at 10:59 pm

If I didn’t read these people’s comments, I wouldn’t have known the show was returning. But repeats? Ugh.

    Una

  • Jonah January 20, 2013 at 10:27 am

Okay, we all have welcomed you back! Now talk to us and tell us what’s going on with the show? Are you talking with Hallmark?
